There are plenty of factors that discourage event planners who are just starting out from organising something new. Initial cost, difficulty in promoting and of course, a risk that on the day no one will turn up are just a few obstacles to overcome.

CrowdCanDo is a new crowdfunding website that allows the organiser to ‘test’ their idea online without spending a penny. All they have to do is work out a budget list, raise the money online via ticket sales and sponsorships and then spend the money to organise it.

The platform also allows for fixed or flexible funding, with flexible funding allowing the event to go ahead even if the target is not met.

Six months after raising £22,000 for 10% equity, the team launched their Beta programme in the UK. The programme allows event organisers to create events, receive contributions and, after raising their target, go on to sell tickets for their event.

Paul Keating, CEO, said: “This has personally been an incredible journey for me, and I’m amazed at the response we’ve received. It’s truly amazing to be able to follow my dream, and I’m so grateful to our investors for helping us make this happen. Most of all, I’m excited about the next step in our journey and I’m proud to say that I’m working with a great team of professionals!”

The team are working closely with event professionals to create a platform where organisers, audience and event professionals are able to come together to make truly spectacular events. They have also been working on their second round of seeking investment through Seedrs, deciding this time to set a maximum limit of £128,000 in the second round of investment so that all of their investors are able to claim SEIS (Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme) benefits.

Crowdcan.do is certainly one to watch this summer. They’re a dynamic and ambitious team, with their finger truly on the pulse of the needs of the event planning industry.
