Event technologies you can’t afford to miss
Event Technology is one of the most fast paced industries right now, with hundreds of new hospitality start ups flooding the markets in recent years. Although some of the tools on these lists are not exclusively for event professionals – they are all definitely worth looking into.
BitTorrent Sync
If you’re still using Dropbox, I urge you to take a look at BitTorrent Sync. It’s a small piece of software that is better than Dropbox in just about any way. It works using BitTorrent protocol and allows devices to share files without the need for a Cloud. It’s easy to set up and use. Once you have downloaded the software, simply choose a folder to be a sync folder, and then share the generated “secret” with other devices. The devices then share files between each other, meaning you have a storage space as large as your hard drive for free with as many users as you need (dropbox starts at £11 a month for just five users).
Etherpad
Etherpad is a handy tool for working on a text document in real time. Yes, Google Drive can do this too, but you Etherpad can be hosted on your own intenal network, meaning that even if the internet goes down, you can still have access to your notes. It is easy to create pads and share them with others and, if you host it on your own network, your documents remain in your possession.
Speecheo
Speecheo allows the speaker to distribute their presentation slides with the audience before hand, allowing them to annotate on them, and even share chosen ones on social media. If the presentation is being recorded, speecheo allows users to bookmark certain points of interest. The information is then all sent back to the speaker, allowing them to see what worked well and what didn’t. Speecheo conquers so many challenges in one and what’s even better – there’s no need to download. Speecheo is a web based programme, compatible on all devices.
Live Streaming
Streaming an event is an option event planners should always consider. Streaming massively boosts brand awareness by opening up the event to a wider audience. It can also keep your costs down as it gives you the option to invite less guests in the first place. We offer a personalised live streaming process, where we build a website that is tailored to your event’s specific theme. Live streaming takes your event out of the venue and places you on a global platform, embracing social media completely.
Social Tables
Social Tables in Washington’s hottest new start-up. Fresh from raising over $8 million in venture capital, Social Tables is a cloud based programme that allows 2D and 3D room mapping, in planning seating arrangements and guest management. The software also allows for a check in system and even works out catering plans and features.
