Amazon Go Store Opens

In Seattle on Monday 22nd January the first Amazon Go store opened its doors to customers for the first time. Staff have been testing and buying from the store for over a year to get it ready to launch to customers but they had some teething problems which meant delays.

The store uses ceiling mounted cameras and electronic sensors to identify each customer. Upon entering shoppers walk through the gates and swipe the Amazon Go app on their smartphones. The sensors also tracks what every customer picks up and puts back, once you leave the store it is charged to your card.

As there isn’t any checkouts all you need to do is load up your bags as you walk around the store.
