Basildon Park is a stunning 18th-century Palladian mansion set within 400 acres of rolling parkland in Berkshire. Managed by the National Trust, this beautifully restored house offers visitors a glimpse into both its Georgian grandeur and its fascinating 20th-century revival.
Built between 1776 and 1783 by John Carr of York, Basildon Park was designed as a lavish country retreat. However, it fell into disrepair over the centuries until it was rescued in the 1950s by Lord and Lady Iliffe, who painstakingly restored it to its former glory. Today, the house is filled with elegant period furnishings, intricate plasterwork, and a remarkable collection of art.
