AVE Services provided Sound Reinforcement for the Annual Mayor Making Ceremony 2017, our third year with this privilege.

At the Annual Meeting of the Town Council on 15th May 2017 and watched by the Lord Lieutenant of Wiltshire, Mrs Sarah Troughton and Lady Marland, the High Sherriff, Councillors took up their seats at the new Town Council to serve a fresh 4 year term of office. Our new Mayor, Cllr. Mervyn Hall and his Deputy Mayor, Cllr. Lisa Farrell were also elected for 2017/18. We welcome them and wish them the very best of success in representing and working for their local communities.

During the ceremony, outgoing Mayor, Cllr. Noel Barrett-Morton, presented Mr Tony Gray with a Lifetime’s Achievement Award for his outstanding service to the town.

Former Town Councillor Stewart Dobson was also presented with a gift to acknowledge his contribution to Marlborough – a first edition print of the Town Hall. Though he continues as a Wiltshire Unitary Councillor, he is retiring from the Town Council after serving 46 years – an impressive length of public service. He passed his best wishes to the new Council and, in particular, or new, young Councillors, having fond memories of when he had joined the Council in his early twenties.
