A new robot builder can construct an entire house in two days – and never needs a tea break. Hadrian X is a giant truck-mounted robot that can lay up to 1,000 bricks an hour using a 30-metre arm, meaning it can stay in a single position throughout. Bricks are fed on to a conveyor belt which sends them along the robot’s long arm – otherwise known as a telescopic boom. It can even leave room for electrics and plumbing.
Gary Paul the operations manager at Fatbrick Robotics says;
“The Hadrian X machines will utilise the most advanced construction adhesives on the market today. In conjunction with interlocking precision bricks and blocks, some 15 times larger than standard bricks, the machine and system will produce structurally sound wall to renderable quality at speeds never seen before. We seek a waterless building environment, and the Hadrian X machines will get us very close to this goal. Overlay high level accuracy, improved worksite conditions and safety, with a reduction in brick waste, and you have a true game changer.”
