Chinese tech company Baidu has unveiled new electronic chopsticks that can detect whether food is safe to eat.
“Chopsticks are the embodiment of Chinese wisdom,” a Baidu executive said. “And we have combined it with our advanced technology.”
The utensils can detect unsaniary cooking oil, a common concern in the country.
The search engine giant unveiled this product alongside its own wearable headset, the Baidu Eye.
The Baidu Eye is set to rival Google Glass and features an in-built camera but no screen, conveying information instead by an earpiece or by syncing with an iPhone.
The company has not yet released a specific date when these products would go on sale.
